Like an invasive species filling the crooks and crannies of existence, AI is all around us. The effects are unclear, but what is certain is that they will be sweeping and profound. So where, exactly, is AI’s footprint in the cannabis industry?

From automated kiosks to robots sorting cannabis shipments, the potential for disruption is huge. These two methods haven’t been deployed on any mass scale, but companies like Life is Chill in Arizona are experimenting with the technology.
Here’s a pretty drastic example of how things could change: Avis Bulbulyan, the CEO of Siva, told MJBizDaily that a warehouse that takes up 40,000 to 50,000 square feet could be reduced to 5,000 square feet if everything became automated. No need to room to manuever the space. It would be a tetris game full of automated robots fit nice and snug.
It doesn’t seem likely that budtenders will be replaced any time soon. In a field that requires so much customization of a product, a person handy to answer any and all questions and steer you in the right direction is essential to the business. Back of house operations, on the other hand, may be the first to go.
