Doordash gets into the Weed Delivery Business

Looks like Doordash is seeing some potential in the weed market.

On Thursday, Doordash announced it would start delivering CBD and THC products to your doorstep including gummies, beverages, chocolates, mints, and even honey sticks.

“With the growing demand for hemp-derived THC and CBD products, we’re excited to expand access to a wide selection of products consumers crave,” said Jacob Morello, the general manager of alcohol and emerging categories in a statement for Doordash.

You can find the option in a new tab titled “CBD/THC” on the app, but it’s not that easy to get your weed delivered. There are a few steps to verify your identity, including uploading a license and showing it upon delivery.

This of course only comes in states that allow the sale of hemp-derived THC, and you can’t just order a joint deliver to your home. Nothing smokable is allowed, just the stuff mixed with edibles/drinkables.

Not everyone is happy about this, including those who work with lab-tested THC products who claim this hemp-derived market is much more lax with its testing.

Mike Khemmoro from Mango Cannabis writes, “When companies like DoorDash begin delivering hemp-derived products alongside your groceries, it blurs the lines of accountability. Consumers may assume these products meet the same strict standards as state-regulated cannabis, but the reality is they don’t. Without mandatory testing, uniform labeling, or robust oversight, the risk of subpar or even unsafe products making their way to consumers grows exponentially.”

As for now, enjoy a promo by the beverage company Cann in which you can get $2 off a multipack purchase.
