Senator tells Congress to “Stop Dicking Around” about Marijuana

John Fetterman, Senator from Pennsylvania, has been a huge advocate for marijuana his entire political career. In a press release he put out today, he continues on that streak by stressing his record and lack of momentum in the broader Federal Government.

“I’ve always been very pro-weed. In a very libertarian slant: I’m not going to judge anyone for using it to knock the edge off of life. I think your path to wellness should be without judgement or punishment—legal, safe, and regulated.”

In the release, he lists out what his bill, the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, would accomplish, including regulating the industry at a federal level, removing it entirely from the Controlled Substances Act, increase research, and create a fund for those affected by the War on Drugs.

I supported President Biden and President Trump when they took steps on the issue. But it is time for Congress to stop dicking around and make weed legal. This bill is a good step forward.”

There’s clearly some frustration coming from Fetterman that this issue continually gets pushed to the back burner despite an increasing amount of support from both parties.

With the hearings continuing to decide whether or not to move medical marijuana to Schedule III, we’ll see what kind of progress happens shortly.
