It was teased on a podcast appearance, but Harris has finally put it into writing in the form of a statement. Kamala Harris pledges to “break down unjust legal barriers that hold Black men and other Americans back by legalizing marijuana nationally, working with Congress to ensure that the safe cultivation, distribution, and possession of recreational marijuana is the law of the land.”

The sentence was part of a statement on her website titled “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men.” In it she listed some actions she would take to help black men in succeeding, which includes 1 million forgivable loans to start a business and supporting education programs along with legalizing recreational marijuana.

The announcement says that she will create “opportunities for Black Americans to succeed in this new industry” without giving any specifics into how this will be accomplished, but the determination to legalize is the first step, so I guess we can be content with this major move that goes way beyond Biden’s expungements of records.
