Where does marijuana stand in the polls?

Up until early next week, polls have become unavoidable. They’re everywhere, polling about everything under the sun. So of course, marijuana is a main culprit.

Starting at the country level, we’ve got more good news about America’s views on marijuana legalization from the Wall Street Journal. According to an article they published about weed’s bipartisan support, 70% of Americans now believe cannabis should be federally legal. This number just keeps going up.

Next up is the highly contested battle for marijuana in the state of Florida, which votes on the issue next week. According to Forbes, a new poll shows that 66% of voters will support the bid. That passes the 60% threshold needed in the state. Florida would be a huge cash cow for marijuana companies, considering it’s large population and the existence of Trulieve, one of the biggest marijuana companies, already in the state.

It’s not all sunshine for marijuana, as we have a poll from South Dakota that points to a rejection of cannabis legalization next week. Cannabis Business Times reports that a new poll shows 50% of voters rejecting the ballot measure, with 45% in support. 5% are still unsure, which could potentially tip the prospected measure, but it’s an uphill battle and not looking likely.

Finally, we have some polls coming out of some deeply red states showing a weed-curious attitude. In both Kansas and Utah we see a majority of voters in favor of marijuana legalization, 56% in Kansas, and 50% in Utah.

Times are changing, and we’ll soon see full legalization sweep the country if these opinions keep trending this way.
