What’s the deal with Trump’s endocannabinoid video?

This Sunday, Trump posted a video without any other comment that very explicitly endorses CBD and cannabis as a medical treatment for older people.

It discusses how the endocannabinoid system weakens as we age, and that using CBD or cannabis can help keep the system running smoothly into old age.

The video was produced by The Commonwealth Project, and it is very clearly created to get the attention of Donald Trump, with a section at the end touting the Farm Bill and speaking directly to him. “You will deliver the most important senior health initiative of the century, cementing your legacy and transforming aging care. Millions everywhere will thank you.” Mission accomplished.

It’s unclear what this means, but it certainly smells like an endorsement, and something I wouldn’t be surprised to see happen soon, whether it’s the covering of CBD under medicare, or the rescheduling of marijuana to Schedule III.

All in all, it was a very smart move on The Commonwealth Project’s part to cater to Trump’s ego and emphasize the historic importance of a such a decision. The more that polls show the majority of marijuana approval across the country, the more likely our populist president will want to look good in front of everyone.

Check out the video here:
