Jarred Dwayne Shaw is a basketball player playing in the Indonesian Basketball League, and after getting caught smuggling marijuana into the country, it’s possible he has to face the firing squad.

Last Wednesday, a tip came through about a suspicious package sent to Shaw from Thailand. Police conducted a raid and found 132 pieces of cannabis candy.

Shaw now goes through the judicial system, and the death penalty is an option in Indonesia if he is convicted, which it seems he will be.

However, the last executions occurred in 2016, which included 3 foreigners who were convicted of drug crimes. Those executions faced lots of international pressure, and an American-born prisoner would kick off even more intense pressure on the Indonesians to not go through with the firing squad.
