New studies expand on how marijuana is good for relationships

It’s not shocking to learn that less fighting occurs when partners are high. But it’s not only that, and a couple new studies point to the opposite ends of a relationship in order to show why it may be worthwhile from time to time to light up a joint together.

At one angle, a study has found that there is a link between marijuana legalization and a decrease in the rates of “intimate partner violence.” There are a bunch of factors that go into this, one of the main ones being that heavy alcohol use typically correlates with more intimate partner violence, and there is a higher chance of marijuana replacing alcohol in legal states. However, like all studies that make very specific and sweeping claims, it emphasizes the need for more research.

Check out the study here.

Secondly and equally as much of a no-brainer, a scientific review has found that people who smoke generally have more, and better, sex. However, it goes into dosage and claims that lower dosages will make you perform best. Once you get into something higher, your desire worsens and, I’m sure, performance as well. It’s a little silly to have a five-person research team answer this question once and for all, but also nice to get some validation in what we all knew to be true intuitively.

But it’s also important work, considering that some states are working to add female orgasmic disorder to the list of conditions that qualify for medical marijuana.

Here’s that study as well.

So it’s true! A healthy dose of marijuana can keep things smooth with your partner in more ways that one.
