One of the main talking points you hear about CBD is it’s unregulated status in our products. It can be sold and bought all across the country without having to approve the amount each label claims to have, and how much it takes to start having any effect is up to debate.

Finally, after weighing whether or not the substance is safe, the FDA will take a few months to figure out how to begin regulating CBD in foods and supplements.

Most urgently, the FDA is looking to find how safe CBD is to consume every day during a pregnancy or for future fertility.

Stocks for cannabis companies in the US went down between 5 and 9% after the announcement, which makes sense, considering any more regulation is bad news for those who got in initially in the gold rush phase of the marijuana market.

The best case scenario of the FDA getting involved in CBD is if we begin to get some clear and universal understanding of amounts and their exact effectiveness on our body. Worst case is a total stunting of the growth in this industry, but let’s just keep our eyes on the prize this time around.
