California had the “best harvest season” this year

John Casali, a grower form Humboldt County, tells MJBizDaily that they just had the “best harvest season [he’s] ever seen.” That’s true for the other two counties of Northern California’s Emerald Triangle, which consists of Humboldt, Mendocino, and Trinity counties.

The high quality season is mainly due to the lack of smoke from fires getting in the way of growth. There was a relatively wet spring, but not wet enough to cause mold, and a hot, dry summer that never caught on fire in an extensive way.

Now, the counties are left with some really high quality sun-grown marijuana, and they’re hoping prices can finally rise along with the quality.

“There’s mass-produced, there’s the mids and then top shelf, which is most of what is coming out of the Emerald Triangle,” says Judi Nelson, co-founder of Sol Spirit Farm. Because of the quality, Nelson is able to sell the flower for 3.5 times more than anything mass-produced.

The high quality season paired with the pesticide scandal that confronted California this year hopefully has created a higher demand for organic, sun-grown marijuana, and the supply is flourishing just in time. This could all spell good news for cannabis growers in California struggling with the value of their plants shrinking year after year.
