We’ve been through this before. Sha’Carri Richardson wasn’t able to attend the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 after testing positive for THC while she was at the top of her sport. Now, in an even more heartbreaking fashion, Tara Davis-Woodhall has been stripped of her national title in long jumping because she tested positive for THC at the time. She had also been suspended for one month.

Her suspension began on March 21st, so she has completed her term, although hasn’t spoken publicly about the stripping of a medal.

It’s unfortunate to see Olympic athletes being punished for a substance that more and more sports organizations are seeing as harmless. For the World Anti-Doping Agency, marijuana is considered performance-enhancing. However, that conclusion is hotly questioned.
