There’s a new study that’s potentially sending out some good vibes to anyone over the age of 40.
The Salk Institute put out a study that found that byproduct of THC called cannabinol can help neurons in the brain with oxidative stress. This is the stuff that leads to cell death and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.
So maybe, if you time it right, weed can protect your neurons from oxidative stress later in life.
But it’s just one study right? so many times a study comes out that has a flashy result and makes news only to be over turned in subsequent replications.
At the very least this time, there’s another recent study that aides its conclusion.
A study from 2024 found that older adults who start smoking later had little link between smoking and cognitive decline.
Of course, many more need to come out with similar conclusions before any of this can be taken as gospel, but it’s nice to see a pairing like this.
A vague picture is starting to appear of a healthy relationship to weed, one where you don’t start until your 30’s and coast along after that well into your later years. Here’s hoping.
