Marijuana Activists in Florida Not Giving up on Legalization

Marijuana legalization in Florida is in trouble. Polls shows that support is waning, and if the vote happened today, the legislation would not get passed. The bill needs 60% of voters in support, and a recent survey found 58% of Floridians backing the effort.

That’s certainly close enough for a big push to make a difference, and that’s exactly what Smart & Safe Florida are doing.

This week, they’ve released a campaign with four ads to help spread the word:

“More than half of Americans already enjoy access to safe, regulated marijuana and we believe Floridians deserve that same freedom. Our campaign in support of Amendment 3 is in full swing and we’re excited to continue connecting with voters through to November.” pic.twitter.com/sEgqfIq2TT

In the survey that found 58% of voters in favor, 5% deemed themselves undecided on the issue. That’s exactly who these ads are targeting, and if 63% went in favor, we’ll have another state to add to the legalization effort across the country.

Some are more confident, including the CEO of a marijuana company that has backed the campaign, citing internal polling. Kim Rivers, CEO of Trulieve, claims she has access to more legitimate polls that show the ballot measure is “well over” the 60% needed.

Five months is plenty of time for all of this to change, so we’ll see!
