Connecticut Legalizes Marijuana and Jabs at New York

Connecticut is the newest state to open up their legal marijuana market, and it has clearly learned some lessons from the insanely rocky road happening in New York.

At the end of last month, New York opened just one shop in all of Manhattan. The demand was clearly too large for just one opening, and they’ve been getting lots of blowback for the decision, including from New Jersey.

Ned Lamont, Connecticut’s governor, also chimed in on a local radio station, saying the decision seemed “crazy” to just open one place.

New York is keeping its head high, saying they’re putting equity first.

“Good things take time. You know, equity and impact, over quantity and corporate profits,” said the Office of Cannabis Management in New York. “We’re going to make sure New York does this rollout the right way with a market centered on social and economic equity.”

Connecticut had a great first day of sales, with $251,276 in sales by 5pm on the first day.

Governor Lamont was on with @ChazandAJ to commemorate the “opening day” of legalized recreational marijuana in the state. What does he think about testing for DUI, and when was the last time he enjoyed some marijuana?
