Overshadowed by the monolith of a New York bill, another New state is getting very close to legalization.

After not being heard during the regular sessions in the state senate, the Governor of New Mexico called a special session in order to bring the bill up for a hearing, otherwise it would have been pushed to the next year.

The legislature has passed the bill and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has been a proponent of the passage so it will almost certainly be signed into law.

The possession limit in the state will be 2 ounces with a sales tax of 12%.

It’s estimated that New Mexico will gain $20 million in revenue from marijuana in the year 2023.
